Malaysia's National Day is celebrated
nationwide on August 31 each year to mark the country's independence from the
shackles of colonial rule from 1782 to 1957. The national day is a major event
and is celebrated with a colorful rally, singing, stage performances, contests
and various performances are held at designated venues each year. The National
Day festivities can be started by 12:00 pm with colorful fireworks in the air.
Similarly, parades held by various agencies were also held to enhance the
atmosphere of the day. National day is celebrated most prominently in Kuala
Lumpur especially in the Independence Square. A huge national day celebration
was also held in Putrajaya. Business buildings, homes and cars will launch the
Malaysian flag, Jalur Gemilang, and this will bring a festive atmosphere.
